Why I Joined The Blockchain Ecosystem Powered by CrowdPoint

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and then shortly thereafter, you got an advertisement for that very thing on your phone? Very chilling, but that's what's going on today with surveillance capitalism. Your phone is being used against you, listening for keywords and phrases by Big Tech companies to get you to purchase products using predictive technologies.

Have you ever wondered, or perhaps you haven't even noticed, but when you do an online Google search, the very first item that shows up in the result list is always an advertisement link? It's been cleverly placed there because the Big Tech companies already know human tendencies and they know you will likely click on the very first link that shows up on the search result page. Again, that's another form of surveillance capitalism.

What if there is a company that wants to combat this head-on? You may wonder how that's possible. Have you ever heard of Blockchain technology? But how can Blockchain technology be used to accomplish this? Most people, if you ask them, either never heard of Blockchain or immediately associate it with Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies use Blockchain technology, that's far from its only use. Blockchain is a distributed ledger system that allows for data to be stored on a decentralized platform. This is important because it creates a more egalitarian ecosystem that works directly opposite from our current centralized ecosystem, wherein Big Tech now has control of where you go and what you see on the Internet. When Big Tech has this control, they can divert you into only seeing the websites they want you to see.

Why is this important to know? Because if you're a small to medium-sized business that's trying to gain traction under the current online ecosystem, you stand much less of a fighting chance to gain traction and getting online traffic directed your way. You have to pay exorbitant prices to the Big Tech players who utilize what's known as Adwords. If the cost of paying for Adwords consumes a large portion of your budget, then you have less of a fighting chance competing with a much larger online company that utilizes those same Adwords but at a smaller fraction of their budget. This is how an unbalanced, unlevel playing field gets created in the online marketplace. Startups are already fighting an uphill battle, and this just steepens their climb.

What if there is a company that is willing to tackle this uneven and unlevel playing field? By utilizing the Power of the Blockchain and utilizing the Power of the Crowd, small to medium-sized businesses now have the same even chance as anyone else. This is what drew me into this company and why I want to be a part of CrowdPoint. For me, there needed to be a change, and the time for change is right now.
